Guillermo is an exquisite classically trained guitarist. He studied in Mallorca, Barcelona and later in Madrid where he specialised in classical, romantic, classical Spanish, renaissance and baroque music from the 16th and 17th centuries. A lover of all musical genres he likes to explore a wide range of other styles including jazz, blue grass and folk. Guillermo has developed a refined technique and loves the versatility and colourful tones of the instrument, Beethoven once said, 'the classical guitar is a miniature orchestra within itself.'
In addition to the guitar Guillermo plays the renaissance lute, the archlute and the baroque guitar. In additional to his classical and popular repertoire with the guitar, Guillermo also has a programme where he performs with these three period instruments, the repertoire consists of music by the Spanish composer Alonso Mudarra from the era of emperor Carlos V and John Dowland from the times of Shakespeare on the renaissance lute. Repertoire for the archlute includes works from the Italian composer Zamboni Romano from the beginning of the 18th century and important works on the baroque guitar based on Folias, Canarios and Pavanas (popular dances of the time) by the 17c Spanish composer/guitarist Gaspar Sanz.
