Leana - Spanish Dancer

Leana fell in love with classical Spanish and flamenco dance at the tender age of 6. Since then she has studied with the best flamenco artists and masters of flamenco including Juana Amaya, Juan Manuel Montoya, “Farruquito”, Carmen Ledesma, Alfonso Losa, Jose Maya, Adela Campallo and Yolanda Heredia to name a few.

In 2007 She moved to New Mexico in the United States to do study dance and choreography Parallel to this she trained in the Albuquerque conservatory of flamenco under the master Joaquin Encinas and Eva Encinas (directors of the Albuquerque Flamenco Festival).

In 2010 She earned her masters degree in dance and was the first student in the history of United States to obtain this masters with a focus on flamenco. Since then Leana has worked with various prestigious dance companies in the United States and Spain performing in some of the most prestigious theatres and festivals like the Joyce Theatre in New York, Jacobs’s Pillow dance festival and sharing stage with artists like Juana La del Pipa, Carmen Ledesma, Alejandro Granados and Pastora Galván amongst others.

Leana currently lives in Spain and can be found performing regularly with Spain finest flamenco artists at some of the most well known flamenco tablaos. She has won first prize for Alegrias at the National dance congress and in 2019 she performed at the Teatro Latina together with a star line up which included Lucky Losada, Gema Monea, Carrete de Málaga, Tomasito, El Mistela and Antonio Canales where she was a guest dancers with Alfonso Losa.
